about
The new single 'Holes' by Pop/Folk artist Brian Grogan was released March 24th 2023.
The folk, chasing guitar track, with a fast-paced, rhythmic beat that harkens to a likeness of Paul Simon esq, African music. The lyrics are a juxtaposition to the upbeat track, with a melancholic tale speaking of separating from a relationship that isn't benefiting either party.
The song starts by speaking of a new relationship and being 'taken by them', but there is a suggestion of unrest discerned from the get go with an uncertainty. ''We go our own separate ways, and it doesn't take much, doesn't seem to take much... In this hole called life...''
Holes is the second single taken from Brian's forthcoming release which will be out later in 2023. This follows the release of 'A Family' which picked up big support from BBC London's Gary Crowley.
lyrics
You, I'm taken by you, so taken by you, you don't mind, you don't mind me
We’re misunderstood, so misunderstood, why can't I, why can't I
See it on your face, see it all on your face, faces don't lie, but you like to hide from
The world and it's dumb, the world and it's dumb people but why, why can't I
Cause in this lonely life, holes, take their tolls, they take time, to come on out of
Take me, am I alive? If I can't seem to breath, even in my mind, even in my
We go our own separate ways, and it doesn't take much, doesn't seem to take much to wanna stay, doesn’t seem to take much, seem to take much to wanna
It’s hard to be tryin, it’s hard to get up when you’re lying,
Are you sure you’re fine? Well you could be dyin
Please don't be afraid to cry, I see an ocean behind your eyes
Get back in the race, get up and wipe your face
You’re holdin on, as much as you can. On to what? You can’t remember
We go our own separate ways, and it doesn't take much, doesn't seem to take much
We go our own separate ways, and it doesn't take much, doesn't seem to take much
We go our own separate ways, in this hole called life
(and it doesn't take much, doesn't seem to take much)
in this hole called life,
in this hole called life,
(We go our own separate ways, and it doesn't take much, doesn't seem to take much to wanna stay)
in this hole called life
